Are you familiar with Etsy yet? (
http://www.etsy.com/) If not, you should go there right now!! Basically, it's an online community of shops that are full of handmade items, vintage items, and crafting supplies. You can buy/sell original art, jewelry, soaps, desserts, baby items
(<-what I sell), clothing, fabric, quilts, patterns, and SO much more on Etsy! Anyone can open a shop
(yes, even you!) And if selling isn't your thing, you will certainly enjoy shopping on there.
Why am I pushing Etsy so much? Not because I'm getting paid for it! (I'm not.) I just want to spread the "handmade" love. Handmade items are a lot more personal and unique than mass-produced products and gifts found in stores. Etsy even has an "alchemy" section where you can request very specific items that you want someone to make. (You type up a description of what you want, how much you want to pay for it, and when you want it to be finished by. Then people bid on your listing and send you examples of their work, and you choose someone to complete the transaction. Everyone wins!)
I have an ongoing love affair with
Etsy. I can lose myself for
hours, just browsing the many categories and customized searches. Whenever I see something that I love, but can't justify buying at that moment, I add it to my "favorites" list. (When you sign up for a [free] Etsy account, you have the option to save your favorite shops and favorite items.) I have 68 pages of favorites (yikes!), most of which are fabric listings. Today I went through all of my "favorites" and picked out my favorite rainbow/colorful items to share with you.
Below each photo is a caption that contains the shop name and brief product description. Click on the shop name to see the Etsy listing for that item and/or to view that seller's other products.
(Note: some of these items have sold since I first added them to my list.)

| bomobob - "Yes Please" ferris wheel print |
 |
Zipit - colorful zippers
(I have never sewn a zipper yet [yikes!], but these make me want to!) |
 |
| Aroha Jewelz - Play with Me necklace (upcycled and beautiful!) |
I will end with my absolutely favorite item on my list:
 |
Natalie52688 - sparkling rainbow rhinestone necklace
Gorgeous!!! I MUST own it!!!
I hope you enjoyed viewing some of my favorites. Tell me which ones are your favorite! |
